The day you receive your first aligners can be really exciting. You are finally on your way to addressing the teeth alignment problems that have been bothering you. You may feel nervous but you may also be looking forward to getting a gorgeous new smile. At Dr. Rudman’s practice, we will make sure you feel fully ready for the process that lies ahead of you. Each patient’s first-day experience is a little different, but here are a few things most people experience on Day 1 of Invisalign® treatment:
- When you speak, you will probably have a bit of a lisp. This may last for a week or so before you get accustomed to having the aligners in your mouth.
- It’s normal to feel discomfort or pressure on your teeth the first day of a new set of aligners. Some people experience relatively mild pressure, while others decide to take an over-the-counter pain reliever on the first or second day of wearing a new aligner.
- It may feel difficult to remove the aligners, at first. Removal technique is just something you will have to get used to, and it will become easier over time. It will also become easier as the aligners loosen up over the two-week period of wear, before you switch to a new one.
- If the edges of your aligners feel like they are persistently rubbing or irritating a certain area of your gum tissue, we can trim the edges of the aligners to make them more comfortable. Just let us know!
Dr. Rudman and our team will be at your side every step of the way. We encourage you to ask us any questions you have on your mind on day 1 or at any point in your Invisalign® treatment.
