Like many of our Denver patients, you will likely wear braces during your teenage years, and many of your friends will have them at the same time. By the time you get them off, you may have forgotten what life was like before braces. It may take a period of adjustment to get used to having your braces off, just like when you adjusted to life with braces!
What to Expect
Here are some of the things you may notice when your braces are removed.
- Calluses – you may suddenly realize that you have calluses inside your mouth where the wires and brackets touched your lips and cheeks. They will go away with time.
- Tender Teeth – Just after getting your braces off you will feel much like when you had your wire adjusted. Your teeth and gums have been through a lot, so it may take a little while for them to feel normal again.
- Easy Cleaning – all that hard work brushing and flossing around brackets and wires pays off now. Once your braces are off, your good oral hygiene habits will suddenly be much easier to keep up.
- A Gorgeous Smile – Getting used to your new smile might take a while. You may be surprised how different you actually look!
